Pharmacy study program

The pharmacist has a significant social impact, being the professional involved in designing, testing, manufacturing, analyzing and distributing of medicines. All these aspects require a high level of theoretical and practical interdisciplinary knowledge, obtained by correlation of both physico-chemical and medical-biological issues. As a result of its academic training, the pharmacist will have the professional profile which certifies his authority both in the analytical and toxicological domain and in the clinical and pharmacological one, as well as the achievement of a special social position (satisfying the population needs for health information, education and prophylaxis). At the end of the pharmacy study program, the graduate student will have the following skills validated by the final exams:

- Designing, formulation, preparation and conditioning of medicines, food supplements, cosmetics and other health products;

- Storage, preservation, distribution of medicines, food supplements, cosmetics and other health products;

- Release/Delivery of medicines, food supplements, cosmetics and other health products and pharmaceutical care;

- Analysis and control of substances, medicines, food supplements, cosmetics and other health products;

- Management, Marketing and Health Administration;

- Consulting and expertise in medicines, food supplements, cosmetics and other health products.

Medical cosmetics and the technology of cosmetic product study program is a complex learning approach regarding skin beauty and health, combining medical methods and techniques with cosmetic treatments. The study program aims to train professionals in an evolving labor market, namely cosmetic industry, by having:

- solid theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of cosmetic product;

- knowledge of chemistry, technology and analysis of cosmetic product;

- practical skills necessary to achieve simple procedures for body beauty.

Medicinal chemistry program is focused on the discovery, development, identification and interpretation of the action of biologically active compounds at the molecular level.

The graduate student has the following competencies:

- Structural characterization of chemical compounds, knowledge of analytical methods for their complex characterization in various matrices (mixtures of substances, biological fluids, tissues, natural extracts, intermediates, finished products);

- Ability to use equipment specific to physico-chemical, clinical / medical analysis laboratories, the ability to perform and apply methods of separation and analysis in a clinical, pharmaceutical or chemical laboratory.

- Ability to operate with concepts regarding the structure and reactivity of chemical, biochemical compounds and parameters monitored in clinical laboratory tests.

Students interested in research are involved in research activities of the students research groups organized in each department. The teaching and research members of these groups prepare students for scientific research, help them carry out projects, and encourage them to present their results at scientific meetings.

Technological chemistry program involves:

- Design and development of technological methods for obtaining chemical compounds or products;

- Control of technological flows;

- Development, optimization and validation of analysis methods, procedures and techniques for qualitative and quantitative analysis;

- Consultancy and expertise in the field of products obtained through technological flow;

- Organization, management and marketing of production units;

- Knowledge of notions of legislation and environment on technological flows.

MASTER STUDIES

Master studies in pharmacy according to the specific education, professional training and research mission undertaken by the faculty. Considering the institutional management policy of diversity in unity, the Faculty of Pharmacy has developed three master studies in the following domains:

1. Quality of Food, Drug and Environment, in Romanian language - aims to improve professional knowledge on quality assurance and quality control training, for the specialists working in pharmaceutical industry and laboratories, quality assurance, food industry and environment protection. The master program is oriented towards science, research and modern applications, providing knowledge support for quality assurance of pharmaceuticals, food and environmental factors. The graduation of the program certifies the quality of human resource for a very dynamic labor market both in quality control (medicine, food and environment), by implementing prevention and nutrition education, environmental protection and healthy lifestyle knowledge, too.

Curriculum Quality of Food, Drug and Environment

2. Cosmetology and Dermopharmacy, in Romanian language - aims to train master students regarding the design, development and preparation of dermopharmaceuticeutical and cosmetic product, knowledge of cosmetic treatment procedures with applications in dermatology and aesthetic medicine and quality assurance of dermopharmaceutical and cosmetic products.

Curriculum Cosmetology and Dermopharmacy

3. Medical Biotechnology, in Hungarian language – aims to train master students regarding the development of therapy and medicinal products obtained by biotechnology. The trend in medicine for biotechnological products imposes the need for specialized physicians and pharmacists in medical biotechnology. Master is oriented towards science, research and modern applications, providing knowledge in using and obtaining biological drugs.

Curriculum Medical Biotechnology

DOCTORAL STUDIES

Doctoral studies provide improvement and extension of the graduate student’s training by high quality courses, seminars and scientific research in areas such as Drug Analysis and Control, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Technology, Drug Industry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Botany.

POSTGRADUATE STUDIES

Residency

Residency is a specific form of postgraduate education for pharmacists, providing them with the necessary training in order to obtain one of the specialties included in the Nomenclature of Pharmaceutical Specialties for medical care network. Training through Residency is carried out for 4 specialties, Clinical Pharmacy, Medical-pharmaceutical laboratory analysis, Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Industry, General Pharmacy, according to the national curricula.

Continuous professional training courses

Postgraduate courses organized by the Faculty of Pharmacy have a positive impact on the training of professionists in pharmaceutical sciences and practice.
