1. The University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Sciences and Technology of Târgu-Mureș (UMFST), at the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE), ensures the higher education of some international students within programmes in English or Romanian, offering scholarships, called UMFST international scholarships.
2. The eligible countries from which the applicants can come are: Surinam, Guyana, Trinidad Tobago, Barbados, St. Vincent and The Grenadines, St. Lucia, Dominica, Antigua, St. Kitts and Nevis, Haiti, Jamaica, Belize, Bahamas, Palau, Micronesia, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Fiji, Tuvalu, Tonga, Samoa, Nauru, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, The Maldives, East Timor, Brunei, Indonesia, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, Bhutan, Nepal, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Malawi, South Africa, Lesotho, Seychelles, Comoro Islands, Cape Verde, Sao Tome and Principe, Guinea, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Guinea Bissau, The Congo. The list can be extended, upon request from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
3. The applicants can choose a programme in English or in Romanian. For the programmes in Romanian, the accepted candidates must attend one year of English language classes, provided by UMFST. Completion of this course is mandatory for the registration in the first year of studies.
4. Within this scholarship programme, UMFST will ensure, for the accepted students, exemption from paying tuition fees, accommodation in student hostels and meals at the UMFST canteen, during the period when educational activities are carried out. These facilities are cancelled if the student must repeat an academic year due to failure to meet educational requirements.
5. The applications for the UMFST international scholarship can be submitted between 1 January and 31 July every year. During this period, applicants have the following obligations:
a. To submit fully completed applications, in conformity with the requirements for international students accepted by UMFST.
b. To attend an interview with UMFST representatives.
6. Fulfilling the requirements specified at no. 5 above does not guarantee admission; the applicants must fulfil all the eligibility criteria that apply to international students.
7. The inclusion of an applicant in the UMFST international scholarship programme will be possible only at the recommendation / request of MAE, of a diplomatic representation of Romania in the country of origin or at the request of a central official institution of the respective country. These requests can also be sent directly to UMFST. Individual applications will not be accepted.
8. The number of scholarships granted to every country and every study programme will be decided by the Administrative Board of UMFST, within the limits approved of by ARACIS.
9. Also, the University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Sciences and Technology of Târgu-Mureș offers 3 scholarships for young researchers, under the age of 35. The duration of the scholarship is of 3 months.
10. The applicants must fulfil the following conditions: the period since the completion of their doctoral studies must not be longer than 5 years (at the moment of the application), and they have proven they possess the ability to work as independent researchers.
